Hoopla!Berlin, the big-hoop experts, specialize in making hooping easy for every-body. Their aim is to spread the word about the benefits of adult hooping to the world.
As well as successfully introducing hooping to Berlin, they’ve also managed to travel the world showing people how moving with a simple circle can be so beneficial. From being invited to present hooping at the Deutsche Pavilion at World Expo 2010 Shanghai, to Ibiza HoopRetreats and countless interActive HoopZones throughout Europe.
They currently teach 10 regular weekly classes in Berlin, offer private and corporate Workshops, facilitate hoops for events and produce a range of custom made Travel-Hoops.
It all started in 2004 when Rachel discovered hooping through an article about a small group of people in California making hoops bigger so adults could use them. An artist by profession, she was always interested in movement and dance for inspiration and she found using the body to move an object fascinating so she made herself a hoop in proportion to the size of her body to see if it could work - it sure did! ...and also for every friend she was able to convince to try her big hoop. When Balazs an ex mountain bike racer from Canada eventually tried, he immediately noticed that apart from actually being loads of fun he was also getting a serious workout - it does take 120-150 pulsating movements a minute to keep a hoop in motion …the kind of linear pulsating movements which are responsible for toning & strengthening muscles. They started experimenting with different size hoops and ways of `spinning´ a hoop more than just on the waist. What they found was that combining moves not only created fluid motion for the body, the mind started to flow and get lost in the movement, engaging reflexes and fluid predictive thinking, hugely improving coordination, creativity and body discipline. This was all too good to keep to themselves so Hoopla!Berlin was formed. And their adventure began…
